Privacy policy

Verity Learners (UEN 53533412E) is a small online tuition business in Singapore run by me, Ms Megan. I handle personal data in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). This policy covers this website, enquiries on WhatsApp and email, and my tuition classes. The Verity practice portal has its own privacy policy at https://practice.veritylearners.com/privacy.

What I collect

• Enquiries and forms: your name, your phone or WhatsApp number, whether you are a parent or student, and the level, subject and class slot you are interested in.
• WhatsApp and email: the messages you send me, with your name and number or email address.
• Students in my classes: the student’s level and class, and a parent’s contact number on WhatsApp. I do not keep school names, results or homework photos on file.
• Payments: when you pay by PayNow, my bank records show the payer’s name, the amount and the date.
• Lessons are held on Google Meet and are not recorded.

This website does not use analytics or advertising trackers. It saves your timetable view preference in your own browser.

Why I collect it

• to reply to your enquiry and arrange lessons
• to teach classes and keep parents updated
• to send you the free cheat sheet you asked for
• to keep payment records, as the law requires
• if you have agreed, to message you about my classes and resources

Marketing messages

I only send messages about new classes or resources if you have ticked the box asking for them, or asked me to. You can stop them at any time by replying STOP or messaging me.

Students under 18

If you are a student, please ask a parent or guardian before sending me your details. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must contact me for you.

Who else handles it

I use these services to run the business, and some store data outside Singapore: Netlify (website hosting and form submissions), WhatsApp (messages), Google (Gmail, Google Meet and web fonts) and my bank (PayNow). I take reasonable steps to make sure your data is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA. I don’t sell your personal data, and I don’t share it with third parties for their marketing.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry details, student details and WhatsApp conversations for as long as they are useful for teaching, answering questions about past lessons or fees, or in case you return. Payment records are kept for 5 years, as required for tax records. You can ask me to delete your details or our chat at any time, and I will unless I need to keep them by law.

Keeping it safe

Access to my accounts is limited to me and protected by passwords and two-step sign-in.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw your consent, at any time. I will reply within 30 days.
